Thos. Shaw, oar well-known townsman, having returned from Florida, where he spent the winter 5s again greeting his friends upon the streets. He reports a comparatively cold winter in Florida, still very mild compared with an Ogdensburg winter.. He states that there was a larger number of northern people than usual in Florida last winter, *Ghosob R, Persons, of Ishpemmg, Mich, is in the city visiting friends and taking a look at the scenes of hfs youthful days. Mr. Persons was for some years employed in the Jours At office as mailing clerk and accountant. Sis associates at the “old stand” are most happy to greet him and to observe that he has taken on alderman ic proportions in keeping with bis position as member of the common council of lehpemfng.Barnette—Lo wiry.The marriage of Dr. John A* Barnette,of Watertown, and Misa Isabel Lowry, of this city, took place at the homo of the bride, thoTeatdeoce of Mr. James Chatterton, in this city, thismorning at half-past ten o’clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. H. Lyon. The bridesmaid was Miss Xittie Barnette, of Potsdam, slater of the groom, and the groomsman was Dr John W. Benton, of this city.The house wrb very prettily trimmed with .flowers and the guests were limited to the immediate relatives and close friends of thebridoand groDm. Many handsome presents were received. A wedding breakfast was served immediately after the ceremony, and Dr. and Mrs, Barnette took the noon train west on theR. W. 0. R. R. They will visit Chicago and after tbeir wedding tour take up fcbeir residence at Watertown.Dr. Barnette fa well and favorably known in this city having been for several years a member of the medical stall of the St. Lawrence State Hospital, which position he resigned to take up private practice and located at Watertown. His qualities os a physician and a man insure him the same success in our sister city as he met with here. Miss Lowry is one of the charming and agreeable young ladiee of the city whose departure will be regretted by her many fripnda and acquaintances.
