Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Rigby of Port Lavaca announce the engagement and up of their daughter, Diane Elizabeth, to William John Mehrer Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William John Mehrer Sr. of Barrington, N. J. Vows will be exchanged by the couple Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. in St. Francis Episcopal Church in Victoria. The bride-elect is a 1972 graduate of Calhoun High School and attended Victoria College. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1976 where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and president and treasurer of Little Sisters of the Laurel, the little sisters of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. The prospective groom graduated from Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, N. J. in 1967. He has served four years in the U.S. Navy and is a 1974 graduate of Southwest Texas State University, receiving his degree in business administration. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and served as secretary. He is employed as a sales representative for R.J. Gallagher Co. in Corpus Christi; appliques were fitted at the wrists with wide cuffs overlaid with matching lace. Beneath a wide band of lace encircling the skirt at the lower level fell another wide tier of sheer also edged in lace. A three quarter length tiered veil with lace edging depended from a Juliet cap of lace and seed pearls. The bride wore pearl earrings and a gold watch, a gift from the groom. She carried a cascade of mums and glamellins centered with a Cymbidium orchid. Mrs. Michael Parker and Mrs. Michael Roell, sisters of the bride, were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Marie Vaughan and Miss Debbie Winkler. The attendants wore floor length gowns of powder blue polyester with V necklines and caplet sleeves and draped sashes marking the Empire waistlines. They wore white hats with bands of blue tulle and carried nosegays of blue and white pom pon mums and blue baby’s breath. The bride’s mother wore a sleeveless pink floor length knit jersey styled with small, rolled collar at the high neckline, pleated skirt, and a jacket with long fitted sleeves. White ac cessories and a Cymbidium orchid corsage completed the ensemble. The bridegroom's mother chose a yellow Empire style knit jersey gown complemented with a floral chiffon poncho, white accessories and a Cymbidium orchid corsage. Donnie Stansell of McAllen was best man. Groomsmen and ushers were the groom's brothers, Mickey Ewing of Victoria, James Ewing of Corpus Christi and Terry Ewing of McAllen. A reception was held in Fellowship Hall at the church. Serving in the house party were Mesdames Carol Musachia of Dallas, Mickey Ewing of Vic toria, James Ewing of Corpus Christi, and Misses Martha Stratmann and Donna Cham bers. Miss Sheryl Wooley of Austin registered guests. For honeymoon travel the bride wore a pink pantsuit with white accessories and an or chid corsage The newlyweds will reside in Victoria at 2701 Leary Lane. The groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Luby’s. The bride is a senior at Victoria High School and the groom attended McAllen High School and Victoria College. He is employed by the estate of Tom O'Connor. MISS DIANE RIGBY
