As the case dragged through federal district courts, appeals, courts, the Virginia Supreme Court and finally the Supreme Court,1' the Lovings became near recluses.Their lawyer, Philip J. Hir-schkop of Alexandria, took charge of all interviews with the Lovings. After one magazine team exhausted and upset the couple with questions Hlrschkop calls «rudely personal»'the couple refused interviews.Today, after nearly a decade of unwanted publicity and unasked for trouble with the law, Hls-schkop said the livings would come out of their Caroline County home one more time to answer questions, ,Then they want to go home and try to forget; the lawyer said.
