WALKERVILLE — Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph’s church in Elbridge, Miss Harriet Bettys, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bettys of Walkerville, became the bride of Walter J. Lathrop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lathrop of Walkerville. Snow balls and red peonies decorated the altar before which the Rev. Fr. Joseph Alksnis of Hart solemnized the marriage. Miss Luanne Trenary was maid of honor and Charles R. Bettys, brother of the bride, was best man. The bride wore a white sheer nylon gown of ballerina length with white accessories and car ried a bouquet of red roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Trenary, maid of honor, wore a gown of sky blue styled identically to that of the bride, with which she wore white ac cessories. Her bouquet was of pink carnations. A reception was held in the school auditorium in the eve ning for more than 200 relatives and friends. Mrs. Minnie Pickett of Muske gon, aunt of the bride, cut the beautiful wedding cake and Mrs. Clarence Bays of Shelby, sister of the bridegroom, was in charge of the guestbook. Mrs. Russel Agnard’s orchestra of Muskegon furnished music for dancing during the evening. The bride is a graduate of Walkerville high school Class of 1950. She is employed by Michi gan Associated Telephone Co. office in Hart. The bridegroom recently re ceived his discharge from the United States Marine corps aft er four years of service. He is employed in the experimental department of Continental Mo tors of Muskegon. Upon their return from a wed ding trip the young couple will make their home in Hart.
