Deputy Indicted in Fatal Traffic CrashMT. GILEAD — Sheriff s deputy William N. Giiffth has been indicted by the Morrow County Grand Jury for vehicular homicide, but the jury declined to investigate further charges made against persons in the sheriffs department.Seven indictments were returned in all. including one secret indictment. Four of those given a true bill are charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the April 21 attempted robbery of the Marengo Rexali Drug Store.Deputy Griffith was responding to that robbery call when his cruiser slammed into autos stalled at the intersection of State Routes 61 and 529, killing 15-year-old Timothy Giiem of Fulton.Highway patrol reports state that an auto stalled at the intersection and two autos stopped behind it. The cruiser then came over a hill and hit the last stoppedReservoirear. the Giiem auto, starting a chain reaction accident. Six other persons were injured.Meanwhile, pharmacist John Stock broke up the attempted armed robbery of drugs by faking a .22-caliber pistol away from one of the four girls allegedly involved in the robberv attemptfr aIndicted were four Gallon women — Kathryn J. Thomas. 18; Diane Carter, 22; and Terry and Lorraine Betti.The grand jury also was presented tapes, documents and statements collected by Edward I. Arthur against persons in the sheriffs department.The grand jury report stated, ''no benefit would be gained from further investigation fo allegations contained... and no probable criminal cases would result.”The report also said the nature, intent and timing of the materials seemed to be politically motivated.As for statements by former deputy James Dodd, the report concluded much
