. tOa Tuesday the Reformed church parsonage in Alton occurred the wedding of Jack 0. Hill and Bessie M, Sylvester both of Sioux City, Rev. Van Duine performed the caremony, Mr. Hill is a brother of Mrs. Robert Mahling.** * /■'I'-.Alton friends have received invitation b to a marriage reception at the C. Hospers home at Orange Oity. Jacob Gleysteeu of Ole Eium Washington and Miss Dora Hoepeis of Orapge City are the contracting parties. Attorney Gleysteen arrived frbm the west on Monday morning. He;looka well and prosperous.** *On Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock at the German Lutheran chbrch four miles north of Boy den Rev. W. Baetke spoke the words uhiting John B. Tiedeman and Miss Emma Lutjens in the holy bonds of matrimony, A large number of relatives and friends were present to witness the impressive Lutheran service, Marie Tiedeman—sister of the groom —acted as bridesmaid and John/Lut-jens—brother of the bride—was bestman, The bride’s costume was a pearl gray silk. The groom is the son^of Mr, and Mrs, Barend Tiede-raa residing southeast of Hull. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs, J, H. Lutjens living north of Boyden.Both families are well known and prosperous. The groom will engage in farming in Sheridan township, The happy couple will go to house-keeqing at once and have the best wishes of The Democrat and all theirfriends,* :On Wednesday June eighth at the home of Rev. Wm. M, Jennings atWorthington Minnesota occurred themarriage of. Tone De Haas and Hen-drika. J. Toering. The bride is the daughter of Editor Toering of the Vrye Hollander published at Orange City. She is a lady of pleasing personality. Mies Toering was one of Sioux county’s popular school teachers and has also been a help in her fathers newspaper office. The groom is the foreman in the Vrye Hollander printshop and is a capably and energetic young man, The happy couple came to Alton and took the train there for points east—including Whitins-ville Massachusetts'the home of „the parents of the groom. They will be gone about a month after which they will be at home to their friends atOrange City. The Alton Democrat joins the many, friends of Mr. and Mrs, De Haas in wishing them much joy{and happiness in their wedded fife.’ \*• * *In Boyden at the home of the bride’s parents on Wednesday June first 1910 occurred the marriage of L. H, Keller and Miss Mary Lubbers, Rev, W, Durward Howie performed the ceremotiy in the presence of relatives only—in the afternoon at six o’clock, The bride was beautifully costumed in white crepe deehene— the groom wore the' conventional black. Immediately after the ceremony the guests sat down to* a four course luncheon/ The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, R. G. Lubbers of Boyden. Mr. Lubbers is a hardware dealer and one of Boy-den’s prominent; citizens. The bride formerly taught;school and was one of South Dakota’s * popular school teachers, The groom is a harness maker and his home is in Hartley Iowa. He is held in high regards by those that know him, The happy pair left on a wedding tour for Minneapolis and other points and will be home to their friends after June sixteenth .at Hartley. Brune performed the impressive and beautiful ceremony of the church which was witnessed by a large number of friends. The bride is a very charming youijg lady of pleasing personality. The Thelen family is one of the oldest families in this vicinity. The bride left her pleasant home two years ago to take up stenography and bookkeeping, She completed her course and was employed in the HaydensBan^ at Omaha as stenographer.She held. thiB position until a few months ago when she came home to prepare for the coming event/ The groom ib\Well known • in Alion—and every one • likes John. His jovial disposition makes him frieritts where-ever he goes. His parents- are both dead—the old-home wa$;;/ afcvEarlinc Iowa. The groom is ' a . kuccessfu clothier. He has had complete experience in his line, He has been a buyer and a seller, He has been on the road and at present is connected with a- Rock Rapids concern that owns several stores. After the wedding ceremony an elegant dinnerwas served at the bride’s home to the immediate relatives and friends. The bappv pair took the afternoon train for Omaha and will visit different points in Iowa and will be gone about two weeks when they will return to Alton until they complete arrangements for the future home. They will be at home to their many friends after July first at Alton; Mr. and Mrs, John Kenkel were recipients of many costly as well as useful gifts. Every one who knows these worthy young people will join the Democrat in wishing them the best of every thing the world affords. Mies Margaret Kenkel of Earling Iowa, Mr. and Mrs, Peter Odenbrett of Fulda Minnesota and .Mr, andMrs. Math Goergen of Granville were the out of town relatives attending the wedding.*On June first 1910 at the home of the bride’s parents three miles north of Ireton, Rev. W, J. Cres-well \ of the Presbyterian church spoke the words uniting Ora C, Grau and Jennie P. Brown in the holy bonds of matrimony. A large company had gathered to witness the ceremony which took place at two thirty in the afternoon. The parlor had been tasfcely decorated with pin^ and white carnations and the couple took their place among theflowers while Miss Searle of Hawar-■ • .den played the wedding march. The bride’s costume was of white chiffon and her bridesmaid Miss Emma Wright wore a dress of pink silk mull. The groom and groomsman Ernest Gandy wore the conventional black The groom is the; son - of Mr, and Mrs. George Brown. ■ Both families are well known people living north of Ireton, Both Mike ' Grau and George Brown are prominent progressive farmers. The happy couple will start housekeeping on a farm of the groom’s father northwest of Iretdh/ They were recipients of many costly add useful presents that will help make their new home both comfortable and pretty, Mr. and Mrs, Ora C. Grau will be athome to their friends after June%fifteenth.** *At the home of the bride--Kn Thurs^ day afternoon at two o’clock—in the presence of the immediate relatives occurred the marriage (of Jacob F, Douma and Jennie Wiers6ma—Rev, A. M, Van Duine officiating. The brid8 is the daughter of Mrs. D, A, Rods and is well known in Alton having lived in and near Alton practically all her life, She is active in church work and'an accomplished young woman and will be a true helpmeet. The groom is the eldest son of Mr.and Mrs. Jacob Douma. He is ah energetic young man and has made many friends. He was the owner of the Alton postal card gallery and was a success, At present he works at the carpenter trade. The young people will go to housekeeping in the home prepared by the groom north of the William Mulder residence where they will be at home to their friends after July first, The Democrat joins the many friends of the happy couple in extending its best wishes for a prosperous andhappy future, Immediately after the ceremony the guests sat down to a sumptuous wedding feast.
