CuevasMiss Betty Charlene Smith became the bride of Rodney Lewis Cuevas May 31 at the First Baptist Church in La Marque.The Rev. Herbert Zimerman of Baytown officiated.Daughter of Mr. and Mrs Wayne Smith, of La Marque, the bride was graduated from La Marque High School and Galveston Beauty College. She wasemployed at the Cut and Curl Beauty Shop in La M«rque.The bridegroom is the son of Mr and Mrs. Jason L. Cuevas of Gulfport. Miss. He is a 1965 graduate of Gulfport High School and is employed at Diesel Engine Service in Gulfport.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white chantilly lace and silk organza over taffeta, an original design by Marie. Highlighting the voluminous organza skirt were appliqued lace medallions embroidered in bridal jewels.A satin pillbox covered with seed pearls held her fingertip length veil of silk illusion Her bouquet was a purple orchid surrounded by white carnations.Best man was Edwin Fred Zimmerman of La Marque.Ring bearer was David Allen Cuevas, brother of the bridegroom. of Gulfport. Ushers were Larry Wayne Smith, brother of the bride, and Ricky Cuevas, brother of the bridegroom.After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Zimmerman. in La Marque. Serving were Mrs R. W. Witt, Carolyn Huddleston.
