. Sterling-Carpenter HUDSON, Mich, June 10.—An ‘interesting wedding took place at 11 O'clock Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J S. Sterling,at Hud son Center, when their daughter, Thelma Lucile, became the bride of Harold J. Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Carpenter of the Hawk's Nest, east of the city, the Rev. W. H. Perkins, of the Hudson Methodist church, using the double ting ceremony. Pink and white roses In profusion beautified the Miss Ruth Blossom played Lohen grin’s wedding, marchhng to bridal party came Into the room, meeting at the wedding bower, the brides maid, Miss Mildred Sterling, sister of te bride, being followed by the bride on the arm of her father, where they met the groom and groomseman, Donald Carpenter, brother of the groom. The bride was given away by her father. The bride was garbed in a white silk crepe dé chine gown and tulie veil with coronet of pearls, and a string of pearls, gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of roses. The bridesmaid was gowned in pink crepe and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. _ . A three-course dinner was served by Miss Gladys Sterling, sister of the bride, and Miss Dorotha Silver Bon, to about 40 guests. The color scheme in the dining room was also carried out in pink and white, place cards picturing a miniature bride were used. The bride was a graduate of the class of 1923, Hudson high school, and has since been employed by the Overland company in Toledo. The groom graduated from the Onsted high school in 1918, and is now en gaged in his trade as parquet and strip floor layer in Detroit. Sun day morning they went to Detroit, to take a lake trip to Niagara Falls, and on their return will be at home at Halfway, a Detroit suburb, where their home is ready for occupancy. The guests from away were Har old Gamble and Miss Edna Gamble of Van Wert, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Carpenter of Adrian, Mrs. Ida Boyer of Primrose, Ohio, and Miss Opal Fox of Toledo, Ohio. Smith-Bacon Harold F. Smith and Miss Arvilla Bacon, both of Hudson, were mar ried at the Baptist parsonage on South Maple Grove avenue at $ “clock Saturday evening by the Rev. J. D. Richmond, Funeral of Mrs. Halleck The funeral of Mrs. Bert~Haleck was held at the Halleck home in Wheatland at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, the Rev. J. D. McLouth of Addison officiating.
