Martin-Cowles.At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Meredith, on Tuesday afternoon at five o’clock; the marriage of Miss Alice Roberta Cowles and Edwin Lewie Martin of Odeeea wae solemnized, the Rt. Rev. Alexander C. Garrett, bishop of the Dallas diocese Episcopal church, performing the ceremony. ’The house was decorated with ferns and vines. Mrs. Black, a sister of the goom, played the Mendelssohn wedding march, accompanied by Mies Waynie Meredith on the violin. During the service Schubert’s serenade was played softly. The groom was attended by Mr. Simon Linz of Dallas as best man. Both were dressed in evening euits. Mies Corinne Meredith, as maid of honor, wore a princess gown of white louisine over yellow and carried on arm cluster of white carnations.The bride's',sister,Mrs. T. H. Kimbrough, as matron of honor, wore a gown of pale yellow lingerie inset with Valenciennes lace. She, too, carried White carnations. Little Miss Lillian McPhail and Master Henri Moreau were cushion bearers. The bride wore an exquisite princess gown of ribbon and lace and carried a shower boquet of bride’s roBes. Her veil was caught in place with lilliee of the valley. At her throat she wore a diamond brooch, the gift of the groom. Her going-away gown was of blue cloth with hat to match.Mr. and Mrs. Martin left on the six o’clock train for Odessa, their future home.The bride resided in Wills Point for many years and is known and esteemed of all for her many womanly graces, and she poeaesses^those characteristics necessary in the true helpmate. The groom is not well known here, but ihose who know him best bear testimony to his genuine worth as a young man. He is prominent in the business affairs of his community.In common with all the people of our town, the Chronicle extends its heartiest congratulations and best wishes.
