labor temple association islJ VIDESJ) IN IMSOI SSIONS.After Much Argument, Members Agree to Wait—Secretary Resigns, but Resignation Is Held Up.The disposal of the funds derived from the carnival held In Joplin for the benefit of the Joplin Labor Temple Association, a month ago, was the subject of a vigorous discussion at the regular semimonthly meeting of that body held last night.A difference of opinion arose among the various delegates as to what course to pursue in regard to the disposal of the carnival money. Some of the members were in favor of turning over the sum, which amotmts to about $tf00, to the Labor Temple Association immediately. Others, however, maintained that the Trades As*aambly* should wait until active work upon the temple was begun and then the •urn paid over, receiving stock in the association in return.Await Officers* Ronds.After much debate it was decided to pay over the amount to the temple association as soon as the bonds for theofficers were received. The matter willprobably be brought up ag'atn at the next meeting of the Trades Assembly.J. J. Shelby, secretary of the Trades Assembly, last night tendered his resignation as the result of the decision and of increasing business cares. No action was taken upon the resignation and It was laid upon the table. Shelby will, therefore, continue as secretary of the organization until the next election of officers, which takes place at the next meeting. ,A committee was appointed at lastnight’s meeting to secure John C. Smith, ' secretary of the Missouri Federation of | Labor, to speak in Joplin on Sunday I afternoon, June 26. His subject will probably be ‘‘Convict Labor” and he willspeak at labor headquarters, No. 119 West Ninth street.Attempt to Form League.All women interested in the formation of a woman’s union label league in Joplin have been requested to meet at the next I regular meeting night of the trades as- I sembly, June 22, when a permanent or- I ganization will be effected. All delegates were requested to bring their wives.The question as to whether Joplin labor unions will celebrate labor day this year at home or go to Parsons, Kan., was dis- jcussed and action deferred until a later J time.The Joplin Labor Temple Association will bold its. regular weekly meeting tonight at labor headquarters. No. 119 West Ninth street, and all labor men interested w’ere requested to attend, as matters of importance may come up for discussion. I
