Wedding vows spoken in Knoxville churchMary Mertens, daughter of bridegroom is employed at Erma Mertens and Ralph Mitchell Engineering Mertens, both of Mt Pleasant, Out-of-town guests were from and Larry Wilkins, son of Mr and Bussey, Pleasantville, Tingley, Mrs. Charles Wilkins. Knoxville, Mt. Pleasant, Davenport, exchanged wedding vows Danville, Morning Sun, Trenton, Saturday, May 5, in St. Anthony’s New London, Iowa; and Punta Catholic Church, Knoxville. The bridegroom’s mother chose a peach dress. Both wore pastel daisy corsages.Fifty guests were present for the reception following at St.Anthony’s School Hall. A two layer cake with doves on top and a miniature bride and groom in the middle was trimmed with pastel colored sweet peas. Table decorations were bouquets of the bride and attendantsHostesses for the reception were Mrs. Merle Runnels, Mrs.Charles Overly and Mrs. Dale Allen. Mrs Charles Overly cut the cake while Cindy Meuller and Lucy Mertens cared for the gifts. Kay Wilkins offered the guest book.The bride chose pink slacks, a brown and pink body Mi and brown sandals for her going-away outfit.
