The OrchardCommunity won first place, and an award of S100.00. This community now has the opportunity to participate in the slate judging on May fi, The Long PointCommunity was fourth placewinner in District 11, and anaward of $25.00 will be forthcoming for them.I he Texas Community Im-provement contest is sponsoredjointly by the Electric UtilityCompanies and the Texas Extension Service. The local Houston Lighting and Power Co. representatives and Fort Bend County Home DemonstrationAgents and County Agents giveassistance to the above mentioned communities.The Orchard group had theirfirst meeting in October of 19H4Some outstanding accomplishments have been made sincethat date. The grooimother’s dress was of tan 1: silk polysthe Burnoue tr brown taffeta and bone act sories. Both mothers wore chid corsages.The reception was held at 1 Catholic Youth Center when barbecue dinner and with all the trimmings served. Miss Charlene Via sky registered the guests, wedding cake was four tilt; and the bottom layer wa cross design with a stairto the top tier shaded yt roses and sugar bells ornan ed the cake. A miniature b couple statuette adorned thlt; of the cake. Bridesm groomsmen, flower girls, m ture bride, and ringbearer s ettes dressed like the wedparty surrounded the cakting down the stairway, cake was baked by the gromother.For their wedding trij Corpus Christi, the bride c a dross of turquoise silk 1 linen suit, white access and she wore her weddingchid corsage.The groom is employed a Eagle Barber Shop in 1 Lake. They will reside in ILake.
