HE MARRIAGE of Miss Josephine Chflrch, onlydaughter of Mrs. John Augustus Church, to Dr. Aie! Ames. Jr., a son of Colonel and Mrs. AxelAmCs of Afonkers, N, Y„ was solemnized witjiJO-Bride and Groom Leaving Churcha dignity and charm that will long be a su ject of reminiscence by the fashionable assemblage who convened at Grace Episcopal Church in Avon-- dale Monday evening for the readihg of the ritual. This grey* f stone edifice, set far back from the hum of traffic along Reading ' road, cast luminous light reflections across the sweeping lawns, F as the wedding guests assembled within its religious coniines. Ot The interior was beautifully decorated throughout with __ masses of calla lilies and gladioli, which towered in snowy pro-r fusion against a background of green foliage at the altar. Here,huge palms and star-pointed ■—ferns were effectively inter-tpersed midst rows ot cathedraltapers, the latter, casting ayellow glow in the shadows of theI chance!. With grace of g-hairing, they moved slowly along a-tl» wrhite-cafpeted path, charming-fragrant corsage* of white stock and gladioli, which completed the white floral background of their attireImmediately after them came the little flower girls, Mias Rhode Ver-kamp. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Verkamp, and k Elisabeth Asbury. daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Elsie Asbury, who were an adorable duet in their Kate Green-way frocks of snowy chiffon. Wide sashes of the same blue as that worn by their elder attendants were tied about their waists, deeper tints of blue forming the buds in tf nosegays and in the flowered bands worn about their heads.The Bride—The bride was never more radiant or lovely as she entered on the arm of her elder brother. Mr, EdwardsW, Church, who gave her in marriage, She wore her mother's wedding gown of rich ottoman silk which the years'll* ve mellowed into a soft ivory-white. The full-fashioned skirt fell in graceful folds from her slim waist, this same bouffant effect being carried out in the huge leg o’ mutton sleeves that were truly symbolic of the picturesque fashion of another day. Loops of white satin were edged about the hem of her gown and harmonised with the short, rounded train that mingled with the filmy tulle of her veil. Wt(PacLffvitn joyous spirits for Mrs. Church’s home on Valley lane, where a reception was held for the Intimate friends of this popular household Floodlights, hidden about the flowering shrubs, played upon the lighted Interior of this residence and transformed the outer marquee on the front lawn into a scene of brilliant daylight. *A* the wedding guests arrived they made their way first imo the spacious lounge at the left of the hall, where the bridal party, sug-mented by Mrs. Church. Mr. Edwards Church, and the groom's parents. formed the line of welcome. Mrs. Church was the essence of gracious hospitality as she greeted her contemporaries and those of her daughter's, handsomely gowned last evening in periwinkle blue chiffon, its softly-draped bodtce giving a cape-like effect to her ensemble. A contrasting note of color was the lovely corsage of gardenias that she wore on her shoulder.The groom's mother, who. like her daughter. Mrs, Robert I Powell, of New York, has been visiting Mrs Church for the past week, was a distinguished figure in her chiffon ensemble, its blue-toned background enhanced by a gay floral design. Like the hostess pf the evening, she, too. wore a fragrant corsage of i gardenias.As the guests passed along this line of greeting, some there were who wandered upstairs to view the gorgeous array of wedding presents, while others drifted onto the outer porch, where were placed silver bowls of champagne punch and other refreshing liquids.Throughout the evening s da-lidous, light supper was served, congenial group* gathering in the rows of white-clothed chairs beneath the marquee to enjoy this late repast.The bride and groom dlapensed with a bridal table, preferring to wander about amongst their guests, enjoying with them the delightful garden-party atmosphere that prevailed at the reception. These joyous arrange menu were brought to a close with the departure of Dr. and Mrs. Ames on their wedding journey. the latter frocked in a beige wool suit that wss extremely chic in tu tailored design. On their return from theirDr. and Mrs. Azcl Ames (Josephine Church) were photographed as they left Grace Episcopal Church Iasi evening, following their marriage ceremony._ - .destination of which has not been revealed. Dr. and Mrs Ames wifi make their home with Mrs. Church for the summer month*.WELCOMED HOME FROM WORLD CEUI8E-Mrs. David Forker. following s five months' round-the-world cruise on the 8. 8. Franconia, wss welcomed in Cincinnati Monday evening and is at present visiting her aorf-ln-law and daughter. Mr and Mrs William R. Goodall. it the family residence on Bloome road Mr. and Mrs Ooodall went on toNew York to meet Mrs. Forker when:. andthe steamer docked last week, following a brief visit in Manhat-un. these travelers returned to the Queen City. Mrs Forker. who turned her apartment in the River-vtew over to her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs David M. Forker.
