Miss Alma A. Exner of New York City was united in maeriagr to Mr. Ernest M. Mead. better known as “speed'* from Sc-uth Chicago. The couple met while the groom was in the U. S. Navy and she was a canteen worker for the boys in service. They were escorted to Crown Point by officer and Mrs. Harry Parker, the men having- been pals for the past seven years and where the license was secured. Upon their return to Whiting, they drove to the home of Rev. John Bopp of the St. John’s Lutheran church where the knot was tied. Following the ceremony a dinner was given at the groom's home, 9018 Escanaba avenue. South Chicago, 111.
