Lawrence Francis CurneenRyderwood residentLawrence Francis Curneen. 74, died Friday, July 26, in Longview.Curneen was born April 18, 1928. in Crescent City. Calif., and grew up in Atascadero,Calif.After high school graduation, Curneen joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War 11. He was honorably discharged.A graduate of Gregg College in Chicago, he applied his education to a career as a court reporter and an industrial insurance claims manager.In retirement, he settled in Ryderwood and worked part time as a news reporter for The Chronicle. He was also senioradviser for an elderly health care group called SHIBA in Longview.Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara, at home in Ryderwood; two sons, Michael of Bellevue and Tom of Bellingham; a daughter, Linda of Bellingham; a sister. Betty of Olympia; a brother, Jim of Gig Harbor; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Memorials may be donations to Visiting Nurses Foundation. 1783 N. National, Chehalis, Wash. 98532 or to Community Home Health and Hospice, Longview.At the request of the deceased. no services will be held. A private gathering and spreading of his ashes will be held.
