45 years ago, July 29,1971 Marney Cemetery held a ceremony on July 18 to unveil a plaque in memory of the pioneers who built the church and school there; the only surviving minister who preached at Marney, Rev. H. Harland, conducted the ceremony. Rivers Legion clubroom was broken into on July 15; stolen were 12 cartons of cigarettes and a bottle of alcohol. Rivers Midgets baseball team has a record of 18-3-1 so they are now in Manitoba Baseball Association playdowns. They won their first game 15-1 on Tuesday and have another game tonight. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Heapy had a girl July 19. Married on July 10 were Deborah Rivard to Larry Shuttleworth and Norma Mylrea to Ken Golden; Mavis Shanks married Duane Christianson on July 23.
