Orin Martin of Medford, Ore., uncle of the groom, performed the double ring candlelightceremony.Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. G.D. Vaughn of Lamesa and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. A unity candle featuring an inset of the couple’s invitation was placed under the arch. The bridal aisle was decorated with yellow and candlelight lace bows.The bride, escorted and presented in marriage by her father, chose a formal - length gown of candlelight chiffonette and Venise lace, designed by Milady. The moulded bodice, completely embellished in Venise lace, was delicately sprinkled in tiny seed pearls and featured a lace keyhole back. The full chiffonette bishop sleeves, designed with lace inserts on the shoulder and upper arm, were gathered to wide lace cuffs which came to petal points over the hand. The empire waistline was defined in the lace and swept to form a chapel -length train. The hemline of the skirt and train was edged in the scalloped pattern of Venise lace. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a silk illusion veiling caught to a camelot - capulet covered in matching Venise lace. The entire veil was edged in the matching lace and drifted to walking length.In keeping with tradition, for something new the bride chose her dress; something old was the wedding band belonging to the bride’s paternal great -grandmother, Mrs. G.G. Vaughn; something borrowed was a gold cross from the bride’s mother; something blue was a garter made by Mrs. Thomas Tedford of San Angelo. She wore a sixpence in one shoe and a 1979 penny in the other. The bride carried a cascade of daisies and yellow roses with candlelight streamers tied in love knots atop a white Bible carried in the wedding of the bride’s mother.Babette Vaughn served her sister as maid of honor. The groom and his attendants wore candlelight tuxedos, while the ushers wore brown coats and vests with candlelight pants.Sherie Sykes of Odessa, niece of the groom, registered guests as they entered the church.RECEPTIONFollowing the ceremony, the couple was honored with a reception in the parlor of the church.The table, laid with a yellow floor - length cloth, was centered with a five -tiered Italian cream cake with candlelight icing. Each tier was separated with Grecian columns and decorated with yellow daisies. On one side of the cake was a brass punch bowl, and on the other, a brass samovar. Serving were Betsy Schweining ofSan Angelo, Nell Vaughn and Cathy Vaughn, sisters - in - law of the bride.Tori Vaughn of Arlington, cousin of the bride, and LaNae Boucher of Elko, Nev., niece of the groom, distributed rice bags from candlelight baskets tied with yellow bows.After a wedding trip to Ruidoso, N.M., the couple will be at home in Sonora, where the groom is employed by Brittian Construction Co., Inc., and the bride will continue her education.The bride is a 1976 graduate of Lamesa High School and is a senior at Angelo State University.The groom is a 1974 graduate of Sonora High School and a 1978 graduate of Angelo State University.COURTESIESBrenda Vaughn, bride -elect of Jack Sykes, was honored with a bridal coffee June 1 in the home of Mrs. Fred Daffern. The serving table was covered with a cut - work linen cloth centered with a yellow and white daisy floral arrangement. Babette Vaughn and Marsha Daffern served guestsas they arrived from an arrangement of fresh fruit, breads, sausage balls, cocktail sausage, juice and coffee. Their gift to the honoree was a selection of Tupperware items.A gift party honoring Brenda Vaughn and Jack Sykes was held June 21 at the Sonora Golf Club. The bride - to - be and her mother were presented with yellow and white daisy corsages.REHEARSAL DINNER Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Skyeshosted a rehearsal dinner in honor of their son, Jack, and his bride - elect Brenda Vaughn, July 20 at The Pheasant Grill. The tables, arranged in a U -shape, were decorated with yellow candles and greenery. Approximately 30 guests enjoyed a buffet of fried chicken, gravy, new potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, fruit salad and pie.Anniversary dinner fetesW. L. BrownsMr. and Mrs. W.L. Brown were honored on their 45th wedding anniversary by their son and his wife, Jarvis and Billie Brown, with dinner at K -Bob’s Steak House June 28.Following the dinner, the Browns received a gift of commemoration at their son’s home where they were also presented with a cake decorated with blue roses, the date of their marriage and with 45 years shown in raised numbers.The four were served cake and coffee from a table covered with an ecru lace cloth and enhanced with a blue silk rose bud in a crystal vase.
