Miss Myers And John Akin Wed In StockdaleMiss Janell Allene Myers became the bride of John Lester Akin recently, In a double ring ceremony at the Church of Christ in Stockdale,Brother Holland L Boring, Sr., minister of the Church of Christ in Spur, performed the ceremony. Arrangements of white glad Lilas, in stand* ing baskets, flanked the candelabra to form the background for the ceremony. James McCoy of Gatesville, sang “Whither Thou Goest” and “I Love You Truly,”Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Joe A Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Lester M Akin,Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of imported silk organza over taffeta with a Watteau chapel train which fell from the neckline in the back The bodice was adorned with Venetian lace encirling the scooped neckline. Her veil of bridal illusion was held by an organza pillbox hataccented with matching Venetian lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses centered with a white orchid.Susan Myers, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Attendants were Janice Popp of New Braunfels, Jo Beth Barkley of Midland, Mrs. Robert Me Reynolds of Houston, sister-in-law of the groom; ami Mrs. Albert Chilek of Floresville.Their gowns were styled with white Venetian lace over acetate peau bodice, white crepe slim skirts with a bow trim in back. They wore matching pillbox hats with Venetian lace appliques and carried bouquets of dyed-torn atch Killian daisies.Serving as best man was Jimmy Springs. Groomsmen were Tim Fisher of Houston, Tommy Luker, Robert Me Reynolds of Houston and Mike Akin. Head usher was Ralph McGrew. Candles were lighted by ushers, Dick Hancock of Beeville and W ayne Carr of Waco.The bride’s mother wore a mauve embroidered organza sheath with a ptnk and white orchid corsage The bridegroom’s mother chose a beige silk sheath with a yellow and beige orchid corsage.A reception was held following the ceremony at the Stockdale Community Building, The bride’s table was laid with a white net cloth over taffeta and centered with a large white memory candle surrounded by the attendants bouquets.The groom's table held a ring-shaped chocolate cake accented with yellow roses. The table was centered with burning gold tapers In brass candelabra draped with gold grapes.Registering the guests wasMiss Jean Winnett of Corpus 'Alternating at serving were Miss Judy Akin, Miss Jo Ann Abies, MLss Cindy Slay of Beeville and Miss Paula Fisher of Houston.For her wedding trip to the coast, the bride chose an aqua and white linen suit with white accessories aid the orchid corsage from her bouquet.
