ndtoHOLDING ITS MEETINGS ATMORNING STAR CHURCHv-seadThe thirtieth annual session of thetieFirst Enterprise Sunday School Convention is in session this week at the*or ig~ vor-ia-Morning Star Baptist Church, ip thesoutheastern part of the city, and isbeing attended by colored ministers and laymen from throughout SouthierseidMississippi.The convention was opened yesterday by President Barlow, who advisedthe necessity of unity, and said thatthe negroes were making their ownn_ [ history, and if they did nothing for themselves, they could expect no onev-n■kt-to .do for them. The Rev. M. Brown,ss. hof Enterprise, preached the introductory sermon, while a general description of what the Baptists are doingin the state was given in the afternoon by the Rev. H. W. Bowen, ofii11Hattiesburg.A local program was carried out | last night. Dr. John T. Christian, pas-)1l-2-ytor of the First Baptist Church, oneof the best known white divines in.. » the state, was on the program, butwas unable to be present. Welcoming addresses were delivered by the Rev:A. L. Perkins, Prof. R. L. Moody and others. Little Blanche Skinner, 11ryears old, also made a talk.Prof. R. J. McGowan, of Sliubuta,responded. Music was furnished bythe Mt. Carmel choir, Pearl Crawfordorganist and Lee Donald manager.This morning a model Sunday schoolwas described by Prof. S.. T. Gavin,principal of the city schools of Laurel.4The Rev. Hicks, of Meridian, made anaddress on this topic.
