Yesterday the book was taken from its shelf, the dust was knocked from the back, and on the pages thereof were inscribed the names of Joseph A. Wattsfid Mary a Reder. Yes, it meant matri-ony. The shafts of Cupid had broken e back of single blessedness, and with a smile on his lip and a twinkle of the eye. the Clerk signed the necessary docu* ments. The market, however, remains dull, and to enliven the trade the Mayor has established special rates which will remain in force from to-day until the first of September. Until that time licenses will be issued at the rate of fifty cents a piece or three for a dollar, with a palm leaf fan thrown in. Fact.
