Toup- Walker. The marriage of Miss Louise Toup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. K Toup, of 831 Leebrick street, and Mr. Carl Walker, youngest son of Mr. and Mr.. Frank Walker, of the Walker Settlement, north of this city, was sol emnized last evening at 6 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Rev, Wm. J. Fowler, pastor of the Metho dist church of Birmingham, Iowa, per forming the ceremony in the presence of the immediate members of the fam ily. The bride who is a pretty and ac complished girl, was gowned in white silk trimmed with mecklin lace and carried a conventional bridal bouquet. The maid of honor, Miss Leona John son, was gowned in an orchil colored Organdy and carried a bouquet of flowers. Mr. Dean Walker, a brother of the groom, was the groomaman. The wedding luncheon was served im mediately after the ceremony, flowers and ferns being profusely displayed on the festive board. The bridal couple departed for their new home , the Walker settlement, the groom ing in charge of the homestead fair The following were present: Mr. an Mrs. Wm. K. Toup, and Naomi Tow), parents and Sister of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker and Mr. Dean Walker, father, mother and brother of the groom, and Misses mma and Ada Mesmer, aunts of the bride, Dance at Golf Club. An additional sum of money was added to the present amount for the erection of an Old People’s Home in Burlington by the What-So-Ever Cir cle of King’s Daughters, today. The money was realized from a delightful dance given last evening at the Golf club for the benefit of the home. The air was crowded with young people who enjoyed the occasion, and it was stimated that about 100 couple were there. Walter Stone’s orchestra fur nished the music and the dancing was enjoyed until a late hour. Ww Ww - Miss Edina Haddix left last Sunday for a visit with her grandparents at Galesburg. William J. Wohlwend, Jr., left last evening on No. 6 for Los Angeles, Cal., where he expects to make his home. This makes the third member of this family to go to Los Angeles. Gregory Hartman, The marriage of Miss Laura Greg ory of Morning Sun and Mr. Cecil Hartman of Yarmouth, took place Wednesday at high noon at the par sonage of the First Methodist church, Dr. John H. Cudlipp, officiating. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Wright of Roscoe. After the ceremony the wedding party drove to the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hartley, grandparents of the groom, where a lovely three course dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Hartman will spend a few days visiting in Burlington be fore returning to Yarmouth where Mr. Hartman is engaged with his father in farming. or Fort Madison Democrat: At her home, 510 Fourth street, Miss Grace Ballenger was hostess to a crowd of young people last evening at a birth day party for Miss Corinne Kumleh. Dancing furnished the diversion for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Painter of Burlington and Miss Cecil Manns of Ottumwa, were the out of town guests. The Court of Honor will meet in regular session on Friday night, July 25th, at 8 p.m.. A good attendance is desired; very important meeting. Mrs. L. Gemmell left this afternoon for Toronto, Canada, where she will spend several days and will later pro ceed to New York on a business trip Mrs. Julia Slingluff is spending a few weeks at Atlantic City, N. J. Hon. ‘Joseph R. Frailey of Fort Madison spent a few hours in Bur lington this morning, en route to Des Moines, Iowa. Miss Catherine Pratt of Wichita, Kansas, who has been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scott, for the past week returned home yester day. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Ramsey, have been spending a few days near Quincy, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Leopold, will leave for Le Cheneux Islands, Mich., next Monday, where they will open the Leopold summer cottage, for the reception of the rest of the fam ily, Mrs. Leopold, and Mr. and Mrs. Lord and family of Evanston, Ill., who will join them a few days later to spend the summer at this delightful resort.
