Galbraith of Smithfield and president of the Fayette County Home Economics Assn. has been honored with a full page picture and biography in the International Register of Profiles, North American Edition, published in London, England.Less than 700 individuals living in the United States and Canada were selected for this publication fromi ■thousands who had been chosen to appear in other international publications over a period of years.Other internationalhonorary [publications she has appeared in include: Dictionary of International Biography, Two Thousand Women of Achievement, World Who’s Who of Women, International Scholars Director and International Who’s Who in Community Service.Dr. Galbraith was born in Smithfield, the daughter of Professor J. T. King, principal of the local school anj fona Ewing King, a teacher.She graduated as valedictorian at age 16 with sufficient credits to enterCalifornia Stata College. Completing requirements for a leaching certificate at 18, she taught fifth grade for two years in a township school supervised by her father.After she married Carl B. Galbraith, who entered West Virginia University to study law, she completed her B. S. degree in home economies education there and taught two years in JRivesville High School, Rivesville, W. Va. She received her master’s degree at the university and became supervisor of home economics education at Mansfield State Teachers College. An Ed.D. in home economics education was awarded in 1953.Her 26 years of teaching in colleges and universities included Western Michigan University, South Dakota State University and Western Kentucky University.As professor and head of home economics education, she was active in state, national and international police forming groups in home economics and education. She was honored with membership in Kappa Omicron Phi, Pi Lamda Theta, Kappa Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma.She was given a citation of merit for meritorious and devoted service to vocational home economics education South Dakota and named South DakotaHome Economist in 1968. She has contributed articles to professional publications.Dr. Galbraith just returned from attending the American Home Economics Assn.'s annual meeting in Boston, Mass. More than 2,000 AHEA members from the 50 states were in attendance.At the annual center for the family forum, outstanding home economists and sociologists discussed “Women Employed: Impact on the Family”. In general sessions and meetings of special groups the emphasis was on “Changing Roles of Family Members: Implications for Home Economics”.Evening events included a reception honoring officers, the Boston Pops Concert with Arthur FeIdler directing and the pacesetter dinner for 1,400.She traveled to Boston with Dr. Lilia Hal chin, professor of home economics education at Mansfield State Collegenow.Dr. Galbraith is now retired but is actively participating as a trustee and vice president of the Women’s Society in the United Methodist Church of Smith field, was a former president of the American Assn. of University Women, Uniontown Branch and is active in the Uniontown Business and Professional Women’s Club.♦What Amerita wants Amenta gets at GoodyearDR.
