Word has been receivedof the announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss NormaVirginia Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Hughes, presently residing in Elsa, and former resident of Hitchcock, and Alta Loma.On Aug. 25 Miss Hughes will become the bride of Phillip Wayne Elkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Elkins of Abilene. The engaged couple will receivetheir degrees from Abilene Christian College this summer.Hughes will be remembered as having served in the , capacity of school superintendent for the Hitchcock; and Santa Fe School systems in recent years.
