STANLEY MICHELMcCain-Michel vowsheard in July weddingBefore an altar decked with ferns and candelabra, Joyce Elaine McCain became the bride of Stanley E. Michel. The Rev. Charles Kraft performed the double ring ceremony at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, in St. Paul’s Church, Fort Branch.Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James McCain, Decker, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Michel, Fort Branch.Organist Raymond Hartig and soloist Sherry Marginet, both of Fort Branch, combined their musical talents to provide a selection of nuptial airs throughout the ceremony.Gary Hess, cousin of the bride, served as candlelighter before the service began.Escorted to the altar by her father, Joyce was attired in a princess-style, white polyester crepe gown made by Mrs. Hugh Frey, Lawrenceville. It featured re-embroidered lace appliqued on the bodice and on sheer long sleeves. Her long illusion veil with alencon lace was attached to a chapel train which formed a bustle.The bride carried a bouquet of white silk roses, intermingled with babies’ breath with a touch of rainbow colors accented withnieces of the groom, distributed rice bags to the guests as they left the church.Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Freedom Hall, Fort Branch. Jamie Hess, cousin of the bride, presided at the guest book.Following a southernhoneymoon, the newlyweds are making their home at Route 2, Fort Branch.Mrs. Michel graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, and she now teaches for the South Knox School Corp. Her husband, a graduate of Indiana State University, Terre Haute, taught three years at Southridge High School, Huntingburg, and now is engaged in farming with his father five miles east of Fort Branch.Class party markedwith picnic suppergreenery.The bride chose Beth Ann Mayfield, Hazleton, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Janice McCain, Decker, sister of the bride; Ida Miller, Colgate, Wis., and Cathy Gray, St. Francisville, 111.The attendants were dressed in gowns of pastel blue, peach, green and pink, with matching sheer capes. They also wore picture hats to frame their faces.Byron Michel, Huntingburg, was chosen to serve as best man. Groomsmen were Greg Obert and Steve Michel, both of Fort Branch, and Jim McCain, Patoka.Julie Decker, flower girl, was escorted to the altar by BrettMichel, ringbearer.Seating the guests as they entered the church were Richard Michel and Mark Grey.For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. McCain chose a pastel blue gown with matching accessories. Mrs. Michel was attired in a pastel, flower-print, floor-length gown, with matching accessories.Dana and Carla Michel,PATOKA — Eva White, Gladys Bryant and Betty Collins hosted the Sunday School class party on Thursday evening at the park with a carry-in picnic supper.President Betty Collins opened the meeting with the class song. Mrs. Bryant gave devetions. Verna Morison read the secretary’s report, and Faye Decker financial status.
