Serif# ofHonor Marilyn Mon*anA series of pre-nuptial parties honored Miss Marilyn Morganwho became the bride of Jerry Burdwell July 7 in a candlelight ceremony in the First MethodistMiss Morgan was honoredwith a pretty coffee and miscellaneous shower Thursday morning, June 28, in the Presbyterian Hospitality Room,Hostesses were Mmes. EarlAnderau, E. C. Shearer,Marvin Kay, Bill Lane, Jack Stcvell, Ray Morrow, Billy Vest, J. C. Cooley and FrankYoung.Arrangements of daisies and gypsophila were placed at vantage points in the reception room. Coffee, cokes, donut balls, sweet rolls, grapes, chemes and pineapple fruits were served by Sharon Welch, Harriet C a rpe nte r and Mrs. Jimmy Clark, longtime school chums of the bride.Mrs. JohrvWedin, sister of the bride*elect, was in charge ofthe get book. More than 100guests c ailed du ri ng the appointed hours.Mrs. Bernal Slight invited 12 of Miss Morgan's very closefriends, the bride-to-be'smother, Mrs. Roscoe Morgan and her 2 grandmothers, Mrs. Ray Spence and Mrs. A. L. Morgan of Amarillo, to a personal shower at the Slighthome at 4:40 p. m. July 5.Delicious refreshments wereserved to the group and an old-time gab session was enjoyed by all.On Friday, July 6, MissMorgan and her fiance, Mr. Burdwell, were feted at a dinner given by Mr. and Mrs.Ray Spence, Marilyn’s grandparents, and her great aunt,Mrs .Walter Foster in the Spence home.Only members of the weddingparty, out-of-town friends andrelatives attended.Dinner was s e r v e d buffetstyle from the buffet and dining table. Guests were seated at small tables laid with pretty linen, silver and crystal.Fresh flowers from the hostesses' garden decorated therooms of the home.
