The following* concerning Mr, Slocum is from our Centerville ' correspondent. • ’ ’Chaa. E. Solcum was born in Rush-ford in Feb. 1868 and came to Centerville with his parents when 4 years of age. For several years he livedin Franklinvil Ie working for th’S Em -pireMfg. Co. When news was received of the death by drowning it was a great shock to his parents. Mr. Slocum went there on the first train, Mrs. Slocum was not able to go.The remains were brought here Thursday for burial Rev. G. J. Porter conducted a short service in. the cemetei'y- , Nearly all,, the relatives and a crowd of friends being present. A brother, John Slocum, and wife of Rochester and Frank Slocum, wifeand son of, Rasomville were here.- 1 jThe family have the sympathy of the entire community in their deep sor-row.
