EAST SMITHFIELD— Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beach had a birth day party July 6th for their son, Eddy, who was 10 years old. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. George Beach and family of Sayre, Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson and sons from Wetona, Mrs. Henrietta Beach and Duane Beach. Mrs. Leila O’Connor and Mr. and Mrs. James Pierce attended the wedding of Kay Rowe and Donald Sluyter at Rome on Saturday evening on July 8. Mrs. Kay Campbell and family and Miss Julie Elsbree called on Mrs. Min Markham on Monday afternoon. Julie is staying a few days with Mrs. Campbell and family. The regular Smithfield Township Auxiliary meeting was held on July 5th at the home of Mary Jean Ayres, with 9 of the 43 members present. Plans for the fashion show to be held in Sept. were discussed. The proceeds from the first annual Strawberry Festival were donated to the Smithfield Township Volunteers Fire Department for repairs of Truck No. 4. The auxiliary is planning to have a green stamp drive in the near future. The stamps will be used to purchase items for the new fire hall kitchen. Miss Karen Wegazyowicz from Ashley, Pa., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bagne Harris and Brian. Callers last week of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Potter were Mr. and Mrs. John Thurston, Mr. and Mrs. Manley Harkness of Athens, Mr and Mrs. Orlando Rockwell from Troy, Mr and Mrs. Thomas Baldwin and Mrs. Eleanor Clark from East Troy. Mrs. Helen Elsbree returned to her home in Troy on Sunday. Mrs. Miles Baker spent Sunday and Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Woodard and daughter of Syracuse. Mrs. Helen Lyon of Elmira, sister of Mrs. Mildred Andrus, recent flood victim is spending some time with her daughter Mrs. Marjorie Vite of Towanda. Miss Mary Alice Reeser from Towanda is spending this week with her grandmother Mrs. Maxine Reeser. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Devoe spent the weekend with Dr. and Mrs. James Devoe and family of Millville. They attended the 200th anniversary pageant of the town. town. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walrath Dean David and Miss Gail Braund were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Everts of Troy. Laurel Hill Grange met Saturday evening with Master Dean Walrath presiding . Final plans were made for the Troy fair booths. Refreshments and social hour followed the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Steven McTague from Norfolk, Virginia and Mr and Mrs. George Stiles from Baltimore, Md. visited Mrs. Angeline Young this week. Sunday callers were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lyons from Canton. Susie and Ricky Loomis from Manassas, Va. are spending two weeks with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walrath and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Loomis.
