Engagement44II.Vv a pretty party Thursday* night at her home Miss Elsie Laper announced her bethrothal to Mr. Joe Valentine.The lawn was a very pretty scene for the announcement party. Japanese lanterns in various shade cast their romantic lights over the scene. Small tables and chairs completedjthe docorations to represent a Japan-;cse Garden. On each table a candle(with yellow shades was lighted. The' announcement was made in form of| daisy placards with yellow centers. Onthe yellow centers was written these words, “This Daisy will Tell'*. On opening were found these words, Miss Elsie Laper and Joe Valentine,July 21.”Contests were enjoyed during the evening. Mrs. Charles Barr wasawarded a Haviland China plate for(; being winner in the “can” contest, j Mrs. Orville Rosser was winner in the 'contest, “The things Used in Grand-: mother's Kitchen” and was presented jwith gold lingerie pins. The contest cards were hand painted, having pretty daisiesMiss Letty Valentine and Guy Ful-ller sang solos. A duet, “Caroline : Sunshine” was sung by Charles Barrland Guy Fuller.1j The color scheme of yellow a.d j white was carried out in the delicious i refreshments of ice cream, cake and lemonade which were served.
