Melody Hefker weds Michael Gene Gaines!MRS. MICHAEL GENE GAINESThe First Baptist Church of Carrizozo was the setting for the May 24 wedding of Melody Kay Hefker and Michael Gene Gaines. The Rev. John P. Tor-rison officiated.The church was decorated with garlands of lemon leaves, white satin bows and floral arrangements of white pixie carnations and baby’s breathtucked with light blue satin ribbons.Mrs. Joan Means and Mrs. Virginia Curtiss provided traditional wedding selections. Richard Hollis lead the congregation in the singing of “There Is Sunshine in My Soul Today.”The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a traditional style gown of re-embroidered lace and silk organdie. The high neckline and long tapered sleeves were edged in pearls. The lace bodice and chapel cap veil featured a scroll work design of seed pearls and reembroidered lace The full silk organdie skirt and chapel train were embellished with reembroidered lace appliques and a lace overlay ruffle which was caught at each pleat in the ruffle with small white satin bows and streamers. The waistline was emphasized with a white satin sash featuring a large white satin bow in back.The bride carried a bouquet of symbidian orchids, white pixie carnations, stephanotis and trailing English ivy.Carol Lynn Gallacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gallacher Jr., and a lifetime friend of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Miss Marcia Louise Hefker,sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid. Their dresses were tea length gowns of light blue and rose jacquered satin which were accented with long sleeved lace jackets. Their light blue picture hats with tiny white silk flowers, seed pearls and satin ribbons were fashioned by the bride.They carried arm bouquets of long-stemmed carnations, baby’s breath and English ivy held with white satin bows and streamers.Casey Dean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. larry Dean, served as flower girl. She wore a dress of light blue featuring long sleeves and bodice of lace which had been the bride’s first formal gown She carried a nosegay of blue and white daisies with light blue ribbon streamers.Stacy Harkey was the groom’s best man. Jimmy Green served as groomsman. They were attired, as was the groom, in gray tuxedos and white pleated front shirts with light blue silk cummerbands and bow tiesJamie Patterson,daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson, officiated at the guest book. Justin Hefker, brother of the bride, served as candle lighter. Ushers were Neal Waldon of Mountainair, cousin of the bride, and Jimm vL. Green of Socorro, brother in-law of the groomFollowing the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hekfer of Carrizozo.After a honeymoon trip to California and Las Vegas, Nevada, the bride and groom are at home in Carrizozo where Mr. Gaines will begin his eighth year as vocational agriculture instructor at Car rizozo High School.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jack Ilefker of Carrizozo Her grandparents are Zanta DuBois Waldon and the late R.C. Waldon of Corona and Effie Dale Hefker and the late L R Hefker of AlamogordoThe groon is the son of Mr and Mrs. Dennis Kintzler and the late Billy Gene Gaines of Socorro. He has two sisters. Ms. Shirley Gaines and Mrs. Jimmy Green. He is the grandson of Mrs Thelma Van Winkle of SocorroBread will retain its origi nal quality for two to three months if left in the wrap per and stored in the home freezer.
