Hughes-Padgett Rites June 28 Event HereThe marriage of Miss Barbara Ellen Hughes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Hughes, and David Ronald Padgett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vallee Padgett, all of Fort Walton Beach, took place at 7:30 p.m. June 28 at the First Baptist Church.Dr. James L. Monroe conducted the double ring ceremony before an altar flanked with arrangements of white gladioli and yellow mums. Large candelabra held white candles. Potted palms were used, and behind-the altar was a large bank of greenery with white candles.Organist was Miss Adele Calfee who presented a program of traditional wedding music. Soloist Miss Debbie Klauss sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of satin with lace overlay and a satin front panel. The satin belt held a bow in back with wide satin streamers over an inverted pleat, to the bottom of the attached train. The long sleeves of lace were ruffled at the wrists. Her veil of illusion was held by a seed pearl crown. She carried a white Bible covered with lace, white roses, and ribbon streamers.Maid of honor was the bride’s sister Miss Ginny Hughes. Matron of honor was Mrs. Fred Colaluca. Bridesmaids were Miss Linda Hughes, the bride’s sister; Miss Susan Padgett, the groom’s sister; and Mrs. Tommy Powell of Auburn, Alabama. Flower girl was Miss Nancy Hughes, sister of the bride. Ring bearer was Jimmy Padgett, the groom’s cousin.The bridesmaids wore yellow dotted Swiss dresses each with a rounded neck, gathered skirt stitched to the bodice forming an empire waistline, accented with a wide yellow satin ribbon.The short, butterfly sleeves were of yellow voile. Head pieces were yellow ribbon with streamers.The honor attendants and the flower girl wore dresses of mint green, dotted Swiss, accented with green ribbon. Each carried one yellow rose tied with green ribbon.The groom’s father was best man, and ushers were Dennis Phillips, Fred Padgett, cousin of the groom; Ronnie Montgomery of Montgomery, Ala.; and Jerry Chatham.The bride’s mother wore a mint green chiffon dress, featuring a high neckline, with front panel of small tucks and lace. Her corsage was lavender mums.The groom’s mother wore a pink sheath dress with matching lace coat with three-quarter length sleeves. Her corsage was of pink mums.The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Decorations and refreshments carried out a yellow and green color scheme. The three-tiered wedding cake, decorated with yellow rofes, held a miniature bride and groom on top. The cake was placed between twin candelabra decorated with yellow roses and holding yellow candles.Serving cake were Miss Judy Wilson of Chattanooga, Tcnn.; cousin of the bride; and Miss J a n e n e Perrin. Presiding at the punch table were Miss Shirley O’Connor and Mrs. Hugh Richardson. Miss Carolyn Bell registered guests in the bride’s book.The bride traveled in a yellow flowered sheath dress, topped with a matching yellow coat. Her corsage was white roses lifted from her bouquet. The couple planned a honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains.Out of town guests were George Mobley and Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Hancock and family, all of Moultrie, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wilson and family of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert King of Merritt Island; Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Langford, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Langford, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Padgett, and Mrs. Jackson, ail of Panama Citv.
