III., a former teacher at this place, dropped in on a visit.VENHAUS—BLUME.The wedding of Mr. John Venhaus and Miss Philomina Blume took place at the Lawrence Catholic church, Tuesday morning, Rev. Father Flecklnger officiating. A large number of the young friends of the contracting parties were present to witness the service.The bride is a twin sister of Mrs. John Reining, whose marriage took place April 23d, last, and like her sister is well known and respected among the young ladits of their set who attend the Lawrence church.The groom is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Venhaus, and at present conducts the blacksmith shop formerly owned by Mr. Zalman, in Lawrence. He is an energetic young man, highly regarded in the neighborhood and village.The wedding celebration which was held at the home of the bride, was participated in by the neighborhood in general, and a large number of the friends of both families drove out from Lawrence to spend the afternoon and evening at the home. A feast of good things to eat and plenty to drink had been prepared, a dancing pavilion erected, and the affair afforded entertainment and amusement for everybody.August Blume and Casper Venhaus, fathers of the happy bride and groom, respectively, were there in waiting to receive the guests, make them feel at home, and look after the wants of their friends in every detail.—Lawrence (Neb.)
