Hazel Dell Club Members, Attention Members of the Hazel Dell Club are asked to note that there will be no meeting in July. The next regular meeting will be held Thursday, August 4th. World War I Veterans And Auxiliary Meeting Boone County World War I Barracks 1735 and Ladies Auxil iary held a covered dish dinner and business meetings at the Moose Home Sunday, June 26. At the auxiliary meeting, the charter was draped in memory of a departed member, the late Mrs. William E. Gibson, who died May 31, 1966. The next meeting will be a picnic at the Sportsman's Park Sunday, July 31 Prenuptial Parties For Mrs. Earl Nevins, Jr. Mrs. Earl Nevins, Jr., the for mer Miss Barbara Ellen Bow man, a bride of June 25th, was entertained at several prenup tial parties given by relatives and friends, Wednesday evening, June 1st, Mrs. Joe King, Mrs. Harry Quarnstrom and Mrs. Eu gene Martin, the latter of Jef ferson, entertained at a party at the Quarnstrom home, 423 State street The guests included a group of relatives and friends and the mothers of the couple, Mrs. Ma rion Bowman, Boone, and Mrs Earl Nevins Sr. Des Moines The evening was spent with siting and games in which prizes were won by Mrs. C. W. , Norris, Mrs. Glen Byrnes and , Mrs. Ted Phipps. A miscellaneous shower was held for the bride, who was as sisted in opening the gifts by her sister, Mrs. Frank Johnson of Pilot Mound, and the bride- groom's sister, Miss Glenda Ne rvins of Des Moines. The honoree was presented a corsage of arti ficial fruit and flowers. Refresh menus were served tray style, the nuptial colors of American Beauty rose and white being fea tured in the appointments and in floral arrangements about the home. Tuesday evening, June 14 Mrs. Frank Johnson, sister of the bride, entertained a group of close friends at her home in Pilot Mound. The evening was enjoyed with visiting and games, during which a personal shower was held. The honoree was as sisted in opening her gifts by Misses Jane Geyman and Mary Ann Deaver. The hostess pre sented the bride a corsage fash ioned of cosmetic items. American Beauty rose and white, the chosen nuptial colors, were featured in the party a pintments. Among the guests was the bride's mother, Mrs. Marion Bowman, and her grand mother, Mrs. Abbie Johnson of Wapelio. Thursday evening, June 16, a miscellaneous shower was given at the Lyle Reynoldson home, 520 South Cedar street. Hostes ses were Mrs. Lyle Reynoldson and Mrs. Maurice Pepper. The guests included the mothers of the couple, Mrs. Bowman, and Mrs. Nevins. The evening was spent visiting and play travel ing bingo, the prizes being pre sented to the honoree. The bride was assisted in opening her gifts by her sister, Mrs. Frank John son of Pilot Mound and Mrs. Larry Reynoldson of Boone. Sunday afternoon, June 12, a party was given in Rock Island, IL, with aunts of the bridegroom as hostesses. A miscellaneous shower was held for the hon oree. It is expected to be the longest undersea tunnel in the world Marriage vows were exchang ed in a ceremony Friday eve ning, June 17th, at 7:30 in the|N Community Methodist Church of T ugden by Miss Beverly Jeanne/E Ward and Timothy Kurtis John von, with the Rev. Arthur Brent* officiating at the double lingle service. The bride is the daugh ter of Mrs. John Ward, 329 West | Seventh street, and the late Mr. Ward. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. John | son of Ogden. The organist, Hugo Boehm, and the vocal soloist, Dr. Faber, it provided nuptial music for the ceremony. Mrs. Glen Lee, sis¢ ter of the bride, served as ma tron of honor and the bride|y groom was attended by his bro ther, Douglas Johnson of Tulsa, |t Oklahoma, as best man. The bride was given in marriage by her mother and escorted to the | altar by her brother, James Ward. Ushers were Glen Lee and Larry Walters, brothers-in law of the bride, LaVerne Lin ren, brother-in-law of the bride- groom, and Carl Cook. The bride's gown of white crepe was fashioned empire style with long sleeves and a floor-length A-line skirt and s train featuring flocked white roses. The bride's veil showered to fingertip length from a large designer's rose of flocked crepe and she carried a bouquet of white starlight roses encircling , n detachable corsage of white orchids, with gold and white streamers. The bride wore als ‘small gold heart necklace with |, |center diamond, a gift from the | “bridegroom. | A floor-length gown of gold brocade was worn by the ma tron of honor, the gown featur ing short sleeves, a scoop neck line, fitted bodice and sheath |, |skirt. She wore a short gold vest | fastened to a flat rose, and a small gold pendant necklace, a gift from the bride. Her bouquet was of white rosebuds and car jnation petals with gold stream lars. Mrs. Glen Lee made her own dress and also the bride's rown and veil. The bride's mother wore a dress of turquoise crepe with s matching lace coat and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother chose a white eyelet dress with pink accessories, their corsages being of pink roses. Large pedestal baskets o n white chrysanthemums, pom pons and gladioli stood at either |side of the altar, with a white floral arrangement in the back ground, and the scene was light- red with white candles in cathe dral candelabra. After the | ‘change of vows a reception was held in Fellowship Hall, where | [refreshments were served from’ a T shaped table covered with white linen. Centering the table | was a three-tier wedding cake topped with a pair of lovebirds holding wedding rings, accented with gold leaves. The table was appointed with silver coffee ser vice and a crystal punch bow! Assisting at the reception si were Mrs. James Ward, Mrs. Larry Walters, Mrs. LaVerne Lungren, Mrs. Douglas Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Weber, Misses Melodee Ward, Sandy Shrap, Melodee Chance and Jecky Davis. The newlyweds left for a wed ding trip through the south, the whole wearing a purple suit with gold and olive green floral de sign, white accessories and a volsage of white orchids The wedding guests included firs, Ray Brown, Mrs. Bess Woodyard, Mrs. Lottie Johnson and Mrs. Minnie Rose, grand others of the couple. The bride is a 1966 graduate f Boone High School. The bride groom, a 194 graduate of Went worth Military Academy of Lex ngton, Missouri, recently re tired from serving with the National Guard at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He is now farming near Ogden, where the couple will make their home. Thursday evening, June 16, the bridegroom's parents entertain ed the wedding party and fam ilies at a dinner in the Fellow ship Hall of the church, preced ing the wedding rehearsal. The tables were decorated with the nuptial colors of gold and white, f eaturing white candies in gold candelabra.
