Out here in St. Cloud, Minnesota—in fact, all over Steams County—it’s an accepted practice for a newly manried couple to hold a public dance and charge admission.insists on getting out and standing under a tree. Is this advisable or not?—WORLAND, WYOMINGDear W.W.: You should insist that your wife stay in the car during an electrical storm. It’s actually one of the safest places to be. In fact, I’ve never heard of a person in a car being struck by lightning. Has anyone?The bride is the former Valerie Elaine Ledom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Ledom, 212 W. Seventh. Parents of the groom are Mrs. Loraine Lysaught, 1311 S. Maple, and the late Dr. dames N. Lysaught of Tulsa, Oklahoma.Hurricane lamps, altar flowers, floor baskets of white gladioli and. two pair of candelabra decorated the church for the candlelight ceremony performed by Eev., Paul Pentz. Music was provided by Mrs. Loren Matthews of Ottawa, organist and Mrs. A. H. North, Lawrence, who sang “One Hand, One Heart” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”The bride wore a floor-length empire gown of satin and alencon lace with pearl trim on the scooped neckline. Re-embroidered chiffon formed the Gibson girl sleeves and lace applique accented . the A-line skirt. The satin chapel-length train with lace motif was attached at the shoulders. Lace also trimmed her fingertip illusion mantilla.The bride wore a silver and diamond cross, a gift from the groom’s family, and carried a colonial bouquet of white roses, lily of the valley and blue tipped carnations with light blue satin lace and streamers.Karla Ledom was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Lynne Lysaught, sister of the groom and Cathy Lewis. Candles were lighted by Georgia and Tara Ledom, cousins of the bride.The attendants and candlelighters wore floor-length royal blue velvet gowns styled with long fitted sleeves, scoopednecklines and empire wiistlihee. Their hair bows were of matching velvet ribbon. Hie maid of honor carried a bouquet of blue tipped pompon* and white roses and the bridesmaids, blue tipped carnations.Tlie groom's brother, J. N. Lysaught of Durant, Okla., was best man. Groomsmen were Steve Cox and John Garcia. David Kila, 5 Jerry Harrell and Gibby Shell were ushers, Mark Lysaught, brother of the groom, escorted his mother to her seat.The bride’s mother wore a floor-length aqua blue lined lace empire style dress with a pink rose corsage. The groom’s mother chose a floor-length pale green dress with a mandarin collar and jeweled bodice. Her corsage was yellow roses.Following the ceremony a reception was held in the large dining hall of the church with Marjorie Norrisand and Jane Robson as hostesses. Hie table was covered with a royal blue cloth and a white drawn-work tablecloth that had belonged to the bride’s great-grandmother. The four-tier white cake wastrimmed in blue with white roses and topped with wedding bells. Completing the table decorations were two crystal candelabra', phimosis encircling the cake and punch bowl and the bride’s bouquet.Assisting at the reception table were Mrs. Merle Birkbead and Mrs. Kenneth Reddick. Rice bags were distributed by Lisa Ledom, cousin of the bride and Mark Lysaught.Mrs. Lysaught, a 1969 graduate of Ottawa/High School, is now a freshman at Emporia State.
