Mrs. Walter 5s. Phillips returned home last Friday from ‘a three week’s visit with no sister at DeSmet, 5SD. Mrs. Phillipa was accom panied home by her brother, Arthur Omtvedt. The west room in the hotel block has been fitted for a billiard and pool room and several tables have been installed. It will be operated in connection with the hotel by M. P. Martens. The Fort Dodge Post says, science tells us that a well bred ant will say fifty thousand eres at a sitting. Where is the progressive poultry man who will cross some of his with those ants. We are informed that George Sanborn of Fonda was married on Monday of this week, in Chicago, to Miss Hannah Olkver, a lady who formerly kept house for him, and a most estimable lady. The annual meeting of the stock holders of the First National Bank was held last Saturday afternoon. All the old officers were re-elected. The business of this institution is in a splendid condition and it is rated as one of the most solid banks in northwestern Towa.
