Mrs. fh. G. Hersom and a small son, Howard, have returned home from an extended trip to the east. They visit ed in Vermont, Washington, New York City and Miami, Fla. Leo Matern and Miss Anna Dorin were married Tuesday morning at six o'clock at St. Patrick Catholic church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Fr. Cotter in a Presence of imme diate relatives and intimate friends The couple were attended by Charlies Doyle and Miss Bertha Matern. A wed ding breakfast was served at the home of M. ©. Bradish, an uncle of the bride. The honeymoon will be spent in Pueblo and Denver The news has just been made public that J. W. Marcroft and Misa Dorothy Kennedy were married Saturday at Tas Animas. Mr. Marcroft is employed as SApPUMpP man at the municipal water plant. T. W. Sisson is enjoying a few days visit from his brother, Murray Sisson, who is assistant general manager of the Frisco lines at Fort Worth, Texas The Home and Foreign society of the Presbyterian church elected the follow ing officers for the epeuing year: Pres ident Mrs. N. S. Larsen; Vice-presi dent, Mrs. 8. H. Milikan;cretary, Mrs. B. P. Gilliland; Secretary of Lit erature, Mrs. J. H. Johnston; Assist ant Secretary of Literature, Miss Alice Gordon; Secretary of Associated Mem bers, Mrs. R. T. Springer. At a special meeting of the city council held Saturday events bids were received for the construction of the pipe line across the river which furnishes the city with water. There were six bidders, their bids being on follows: Fred Brandt, $23,176.70; Pue blo Bridge company, $19,289.7 Henry RBeehtold Syd.64416; Lee Williams, $16 ,21.60; 1 A. Dahlgren, $15,802.70; s Stand ard Engineering and Construction com pany, of Denver, $11,042.80. There was a difference of $12,128.80 between the high and the low bidders. At the gu lar meeting of the council Monday night the contract was awarded to the Standard Ingineering and Construc tion company. The contract calls for 1,660 feet of new sixteen-inch water mains across the Arkansas river, the greater part of which will be embed ded in concrete in order to make it safe from the encroachment of floods. A meeting of those interested in the Woodrow Wilson Foundation was held Monday evening at the city hall and arrangements perfected for the raising of Otero county’s quota of $1,000 to be given towards this memorial. M. R McCauley is chairman of the work in Otero county.
