The bride is the former Miss Nancy Jane Thornhill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Thornhill, 306 SW Avenue I. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ed Stewart, 307 NWAvenue H.The double ring ceremony was read by Travis Crossland as the couple stood before the altar that was lighted by tiered candelabra entwined with greenery, blue satin bows and peach carnations. The center background was decorated with a fan-shaped spray of peach and blue gladioli, carnations and roses. The bridal aisle was marked by candles tied with blue bows.Mrs. John E. Moffatt was at the organ and Don Hicks was pianist. Miss Connie Oats, soloist, sang “For All We Know” and “The Rose’’ was played as a flute solo by Miss Debbie Barnes The bricteThankscomposedthe bridegroom as poem to her that she put to music.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a traditionally styled wedding gown of white tissue taffeta. The sheer organza yoke and upper sleeves were defined by applique of silk teardrop Venise lace which also encircled the empire waistline and wrists. The controlled A-line skirt flowed into a cathedral train and was edged at the bottom by a band of teardrop lace. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was edged with Venise lace.She carried a cascade bouquet of blue silk rose buds with baby's breath centered by a Sonia rose and blue satin shower of streamers. Her bridal attire was enhanced by a diamond ring belonging to her grandmother, Mrs. O.L. Lang-litz, which was also worn by her mother; a blue garter and good luck pennies minted in the birth years of both the bride and bridegroom.The maid of honor was Kayla Truesdell and bridesmaids were Kim Wright of Austin, Anita Herman and LaVon Johnson. They wore identical carpet length gowns of peach soft crystalet fashioned with off-shoulder bodices outlined at the neck and shoulders by self ruffles. Hems of the swing skirts ended in deep self ruffles and each attendant wore a peach satin ribbon choker and blue silk roses on combs in their hair. They carried glowing candles in crystal brandy snifters that were trimmed at the base by gathered net, blue silk roses and blue shower streamers.Gary Wright of Austin was best man and groomsmen, who also served as candlelighters and ushers were Calvin and Bobby Stewart, brothers of the bridegroom, and David Stone.The ringbearer was Jason Witt of Lubbock, cousin of the bridegroom, and flower girl was Charlotte Thornhill, niece of the bride. She wore a long sleeved white dress styled with a ruffle around her shoulders and bottom of the skirt. Blue satin encircled her waist and she carried a lace covered basket with blue streamers filled with blue petals.RECEPTIONA reception immediately following the ceremony honored the couple in the Fellowship Hall of the church. They were assisted in receiving by their parents and members of the wedding party.The bride’s table was laid with white lace over blue, centered by an arrangement of blue and peach silk flowers The wedding cake and crystal punch service were placed at either end. The groom’s table, which held the traditional dark cake and silver coffee service, washighlighted by an arrangement of cut flowers in the chosen colors.Guests attended the wedding and reception from Lubbock, Level land, Lovington, N.M.,Grandfalls, Big Spring and Garland.For a wedding trip to Ruidoso, N.M. the bride traveled in a camel velveteen blazer over a cream blouse and skirt of cream, brown and black. Her accessories were black boots and bag. She is a graduate of Seminole High School and attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. The former employee of Seminole State Bank was a member of SHS Drama Club. FHA and choir.The bridegroom, also a graduate of Seminole High School, was a member of the Honor Society, S Club, choir, Drama Club and the varsity basketball team. He is astudent at Angelo State University and is employed by Western Mattress Co. in San Angelo.MR. AND MRS. Royal, Mrs. T.M. Breckon and Mrs. Avis Burrows, both of Hobbs, N.M., Fay Ashmore of Midland, Mary Fore and Jean-nie Whitaker.The group joined in a special prayer for Marshall Somers, a former member who is seriously ill.A variety of games provided entertainment before lunch served by hostesses Mrs. Pete McClellan, Mrs. Gibbs Phillips, and Mrs. Chester Oliver. Table decorations were sprigs of greenery dotted with yellow daffodils and forsythia placed to form runners along thecenter. Dr. Royal, interim pastor of the First Baptist Church, asked the blessing and later gave a devotional. Entitled “The Unspeakable Gift” his comments were based on scripture from the bookof John 6:29.Mrs. Royal played the harp as she sane “It Is No Secret.’’A Texas cat named Dusty copped the kitten record in June, 1952 when she had her 420th.
