Confederate vets to be honored in ComfortThe first public event celebrating Comfort’s sesquicentennial year is a commemoration of area Confederate Army veterans, with special attention to those who are buried in Comfort Cemetery.The ceremony will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at the grave of Alfred Kapp in Comfort Cemetery. Kapp was from Sisterdale and his grave is marked with an official Confederate States of America marker.The ceremony was planned by William Paul Burrier Sr., of Leakey, and the Hill Country Camp Number 1938 of the Division of Texas of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Burrier hasspent more than a year in research and planning for this ceremony.At 3 p.m., there will be an open house at the office of Russell C. Busby, where Busby’s personal collection of Comfort and Civil War memorabilia will be on display. Busby is a Kendall County Commissioner.The cemetery is located on Third Street, one block north of the Comfort Middle School on High Street.This is just the first of many ceremonies and celebrations planned in honor of the town’s 150 years.
