A wedding of interest to resi dents of Medicine Hat took place recently in Mendham, Sask., in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church when nuptial vows and rings were exchanged between Phyllis Marie Gut friend and Daryl Wayne Smith. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Gut friend of Mendham, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Smith of Lems ford, Sask. Father Resding was the officiating clergyman. Given, in marriage by her father, the bride wore a tradi tional gown of peau de soie styled on a semi-colonial line. Her veil of silk illusion misted from a jewelled crown and she carried American Beauty roses with detailed streamers. For jewellery, she wore the groom’s gift of a pearl pendant. The bride’s attendants, Caron Smith, Bernie Heck and Paul ine Bitz, all wore frocks of rose brocade. With this they wore rhinestone tiaras and carried white carnations entwined with pink rosebuds. As flower girl, Joanne Bitz was dressed similarly to the senior attendants. The groom was attended by Don Fykes, Charles Gutfriend and Walter Fenrick, in com pany with ringbearer Daryl Gutfriend. Ken Schmaltz and Wayne Smith served as ushers. Throughout the nuptial cere mony traditional wedding mu sic was played by Peter Scher ger. Covers were laid for 70 guests at a reception held in Mend ham. The bridal toast was pro posed by Father Rescing. For travelling to Calgary and Banff, the bride changed to a turquoise suit with black and white accessories. Her “going away” corsage was white car nations. Now returned, Mr. and Mrs. Smith are residing in Ox bow, Sask. Guests attending the wedding and reception were from Medi cine Hat, Calgary, Lemsford, Sceptre, Richmound, Linacre, Liebenthal, Leader, Fosterton, Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Burstall, Sask. MR.
