Brannam -SpeersMiss Paula Ann Brannam of Madison, 111. and James Kent Speers of Olathe were united in marriage on December 19th in a seven o’clock evening wedding at the First United Presbyterian Church of Granite City, 111. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Brannam of Madison, 111. Speers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Speers of 512 N. Curtis, Olathe. Rev. Dr. David B. Maxton officiated.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white peau de soie gown fashioned with a Victorian bodice and a high neckline trimmed with venise lace motifs. The lace trim was repeated on the bodice and en. circled the waistline and long Juliet puffed sleeves were cuffed with the lace. Satin formed a band down the front, masked with lace on both sides. A full detachable train, trimmed with lace, fell from a soft bow and streamers. A forward lace floral headpiece etched with pearls secured the bride’s veil of illusion. She carried a cascade of white glamellias with camellia foliage.Matron of honor was Mrs. Alice Cline of Granite City, 111. Junior bridesmaid was MissColleen Brannam, a sister of the bride. Flower girl was Miss Sharon Crider of Granite City. All attendants wore A-line gowns of moss green crushed velvet. They carried pale green snow crystal pompons and ivy.James F. Aldridge of Lawrence, and formerly of Olathe, was best man. Terry C. McCoy of St. Louis was groomsman. Ushers were David Blackman of Lawrence and Roger Provow of St. Louis.Miss LeFtta Marimon sang “One Hand, One Heart,” and “The Wedding Prayer.”Out of town guests from the Olathe area attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Goodloe,Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Speers, Mrs. William Anderson, all of Olathe; Mrs. Vernon Bauman, Mrs. Wayne Henning, Mr. and Mrs. William Koch, all of Mis. sion, Kan.; Misses Josephine Anderson and Edna Kinney of Kan. sas City, Mo. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baldw in and Julie of Ball, win, Mo.A reception was held at the church following the wedding ceremony. Miss Lana Earnhardt of Granite City was in charge of the guest book.Speers graduated from Olathe High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College. The couple are residing in St. Louis.
