VALTON EUGENE ALLEN AREMARRIED AT STATE HOMEAn impressive, yet simple' ceremony united in marriage two students at the Corsicana State Home, Miss Lahoma Alene Newell and Valton Eugene Allen, in a chapel setting Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the State Home administration building.The single ring wedding rites were read by Rev. Robert Wooddy, pastor of First Baptist church, before a mantel decor of white stock and seasonal greenery, flanked by twin floorstand, seven branch candelabra. Glowing white candles were lighted by Bobby Mc-Minn and Alvin Moon, classmates of the bridal couple.The bride, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Newell of Gladewater, wore a beautiful white . slipper satin gown with petal point sleeves and flowing train, and a rhinestone encrusted, white satin veiled bandeau. She carried a white satin covered Bible topped with miniature orchids and r i bb o n streamers tied in love knots.The matron of honor, Mrs. Edith Wetsel, was attired in a light blue velvet top and ivory figured full skirt ensemble. She is the bride’s Sunday School teacher at First Baptist church.Wayne Poe of Dallas, whose wife is the bridegroom’s cousin, attended the bridegroom as best man. The bridegroom’s mother is Mrs. Johnnie Allen of Athens.Parents of the bridal principals were unable to attend the wedding which climaxed a romance which blossomed between the two students three years ago. It marked the first marriage of two students at the State Home since Mr.Robert I. Boyd, Jr., became superintendent six years ago.Miss Margie Davidson, pianist,played traditional wedding marches, and accompanied Miss Mary Vinson who sang The Bells of St. Mary's and Because.An informal reception was held immediately after the wedding ceremony in the home of Superintendent and Mrs. Boyd where the bride’s table was laid in lace and centered with a centerpiece arrangement of white stock andgreenery. Mrs. Ruby Hodge served the cake and Mrs. J. W. Irwin presided at the punchbowl. Thetiered wedding cake was decorated with a miniature bridal couple.Approximately 70 guests, friends of the bridal couple from among their classmates at the Home, Corsicana High School. Navarro Junior College, and the Home faculty attended the wedding and reception.As a climax to the reception, the Homo superintendent and Mrs. Boyd and the assembled friends showered the bridal couple with a large array of beautiful and useful household gifts.After a short wedding trip, the newlyweds will be at home in Dallas. For travel the bride wore a pastel green suit with black accessories.The bride, who has been at the Home for five years, was a junior in Corsicana High School, and the bridegroom, a graduate of Corsicana High, was a student at Navarro Junior College. He had been at the Homo for 13 years.As the shower gifts were opened, Miss Ettic Bee Allen, a close, personal friend and roommate of the bride, fashioned a hanger bouquet, of all tiie dainty bows and gift wrap decorations as a wedding memento for the newlyweds.■o—Kate Smith Drops Familiar ThemeNEW YORK —(JP)—Singer Kate Smith says she won't be singing “When tiie Moon Comes Over the Mountain” any more.She announced she was dropping the tune as her theme song after almost 27 years.It will not be heard on her new radio show on the Mutual Broadcasting System that starts next Monday, she said.Miss Smith said she has simply grown tired of hearing the song.
