Page 4Marjorie Thomas, Robert Lubben Wed At Congregational Church Dec. 24thMiss Marjorie Eloise Thomas be-, came the bride of Mr. Robert Howard Lubben at the First Congregational, church Wednesday, Dec. 24, at‘2 6’clock in the afternoon. The “Tie v. John F. Baumhnn officiated, 'assisted by Colin Mac-Rac. The altar was decorated with baskets of white chrysanthemums and stocks, and potted poinsettias backed by a .curtain of greens, holly and mistletoe, and lighted candelabra.! graduate of the Monticello schools ! and attended the University of | Dubuque and also the University i of Iowa. He was recently employed I with the Energy Manufacturing | company in Monticello. and will operate the White Oak Farm after March first.The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Colin G. Thomas of Mon-tic|lllt;^and the groom is the son of Mr. William M. Lubben and the late Mt/S. Lubben of Monticello.GJ^hAin marriage by her father, the tfbride ;,ehose a floor length gowji off white ninon, designed with a. sweetheart yoke and wrist length'sleeves. The skirt, gathered on a; fitted bodice, extended into a junior train trimmed with lace inserts. Her lace edged veil of fingertip length was caught to a tiara. A strand of pearls which she wore completed the bridal ensemble. She carried a bouquet of three poinsettias and gardenia petals with showers of white ribbon and holly.Miss Susan Stuhler. friend of the couple, Was the maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of ; white taffeta fashioned with capped ) sleeves and a cutaway neckline. She carried a bouquet of red carnations and holly. Mr. Arthur Jurgensen was best man. Mr, Robert. Luett and Mr. William Thomas were ushers.Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Cecil Goettsch sang “Still as the Night” followed by “The Lord's Prayer.” She was accompanied at the organ, by Mrs. George Guyan, who played a half hour of wedding music before the - service. The wedding marches included Wagner's Lohengrin and Tannhauser.,Mrs.? Lubbenr was born and raised in Monticello and graduated from the public high school, §he attended Rockford college, Rockford, 111., for one year and three years at the University of Iowa, graduating with a B.A. degree in psychology. She was employed in the Sperry Gyroscope company, Long Island, for one year following graduation from college.Mr. Lubben was also born and raised near Monticello. He is aFor her daughter’s wedding. Mrs Thomas chose a grey silk dress faith cocoa accessories. Her corsage was a white gardenia. The groom's sistev wore a brown suil with white trim and brown accessories. Her corsage was also z gardenia.Immediately following the ceremony a reception was lie Id in the bride’s home for the bridal party and guests. The home was decorated in Christmas colors of red, green and white. A four tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom centered the bridal tabic.Mrs. Halstead Carpenter was assisted by Mrs. John Fraser in pouring. Miss Louise York cut the wedding cake which was served by Miss Shirley Lubben.Out of town guests at the reception included, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Schweitzer of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Larson. Mt. Vernon; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Griffith. Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Falconer, Ryan; Mrs. J. T. Grayston, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Glassgow and family, Cedar Rapids; and Dr. Edna Iloegen, Cedar Rapids.Out of state guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Lubben, Winslow, Ark,; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Ehrisman, Winslow, Ark.; Miss Louise York, Los Angeles, Calif., and Cpl. John Lubben, USAF, Fort Worth, Texas.Mr. and Mrs. Lubben chose the Ozarks for their honeymoon and will be at home in Monticello afte January 1.Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thoeni were hosts at a family gathering at their home on Christmas day.
