'•Since 1881, Coryell County'sFavorite Home Newspaper”Historic church setting for Holden-Velasquez vowsJanice LeeAnn Holden and Jamie Lee Velasquez exchanged Valentine wedding vows in a 2 p.m. ceremony February 14 at the First Christian Church Historical Center in Gatesville.Officiating for the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Larry Kennedy.The bride is the daughter of Charles and JoRuth Holden of Gatesville and the groom is the son of Eddie and Irene McCoy of Gatesville and Basilio and Gwen Velasquez of Temple.Music for the occasion was provided by Evelyn Kennedy on the piano.The historic church was decorated with ivy plants and a wedding arch that served as the centerpiece at the altar was accented with greenery and daisies. The pews were highlighted with white silk bows.The bride wore a white sleeveless lace gown accented with pearls and sequins. She wore a headpiece of daisies and carried a bouquet of daisies and red rose buds with streamers of lace and strings of pearls.Matron of honor was Melissa** * *Mr. Mrs. Jamie Lee Velasquez...honeymoon in MexicoHummer of Hewitt, friend of the bride. She wore a red satin gown accented with sequins and carried a bouquet of roses and daisies with streamers of lace and pearls.Greg Hartis of Gatesville, friend of the groom, served as best man.Ushers were Mandi and Brandi Holden, sisters of the bride.Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the City of Gatesville Annex at the former FortGates City Hall.The bride is a 1995 graduate of Gatesville High School and is an advertising sales representative at The Gatesville Messenger.The groom is a 1991 graduate of Gatesville High School and is employed at Ranchers’ Steakhouse.Following the reception, the couple enjoyed a four-day honeymoon in-Cancun, Mexico.Wesleyan Circle holds meetingThe Wesleyan Circle of the First United Methodist Church met last week in the church’s banquet room for their monthly meeting with 26 members and one guest present.Nancy Ashcraft presided at the meeting and the opening prayer was givenby Peggy Creek.Nellie Sheldon presented the second of a three-part study on “The Bible, The Book That Bridges the Millennia.” The study involved the origin and formation of the Bible.Bennie Hansson will present the conclusion of the study at the Marchmeeting.Hostesses Nancy Ashcraft. Virginia Rauschenberg, Cora Fay Rhoads and Ida Lee Rogers served refreshments, using a Valentine theme.Lifestvle guidelines...Engagement announced50th anniversaryBlackston and Gladys Bird will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children and grandchildren at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Flat Community Center.
