Vernon, and Philip Hopkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell V. Hopkins of Belle Rive were married Saturday evening, February 10, in a candlelight double ring ceremony performed at half past seven o’clock at the East Salem Missionary Baptist church. The Reverend Harold Bailey offfi-ciated before an altar which was beautifully decorated with arrangements of palms, candelabra, white stock, and red carnations.Preceding the exchange of vows, the tapers were lighted by Tony Hines, cousin of the bridegroom, and Mike Brown.Miss Pat Williams, pianist, played a medley of appropriate nuptial selections before thewedding, including “Indian Love Call.” She also accompanied Miss Barbara Crawford as she sang “O Promise Me,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”The ushers were Ronnie Smith, brother of the bride, and James Wall of Indiana, a cousin of the bridegroom.The bride, given in marriage by her parents, was lovely in a ballerina length wedding gown of peau de sole white satin styled with a princess bodice, a bell skirt with a sash with hem-line streamers. The veil of illusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of red carnations circled with white snow drift and tied with white satin streamers. Her only jewelry was a beautiful pear! necklace, the gift of thebridegroom.Mrs. Gail Payne of Joliet was maid of honor. She wore a magenta velveteen dress styled to matdh the bride’s dress. She also wore white accessories, a circular net headband, and carried a colonial bouquet of magenta and white carnations. Nancy Blagg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Blagg, was flower girl. She wore a sweetheartvalentine dress of red and whitevelvet and nylon and earned a tiny basket decorated wth red ribbons and filled with peppermint carnations.Ferrell Payne of Joliet was best man.The mother of the bride wore a champagne beige dress with beige and brown accessories. The bridegroom’s mother wore a brown suit with beige and brown accessories and each mother wore a corsage of magenta carnations.A reception was held at the church with Mrs. Laura Nell Shelton, Mrs. Thelma Kincaid, Mrs. Marie Hall, and Mrs. Betty House serving. The receptiontable was decorated with red and white. Miss Janet Shelton and Miss Rebecca Hines, cousin of the bridegroom, were in charge of the gifts and the guest register was kept by Miss Mar-ceilla Marlow.For a wedding trip to Kentucky, the bride changed to a blue net dress and wore the corsage from her bridal bouquet.Both are 1960 graduates of the Mt. Vernon Township High School. The bride is now employed at the First National Bank and the bridegroom is employed at the East Side Lumber Company.They are making their home at 236 Grant street in this city.Out of town guests attending the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs, Ray Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hodge and Mrs. Norma Norris and daughter of Waltonville, Mrs. Genita Osborn of Dix, Mr. and Mrs. James Wall, Mrs. Betty Nickels of Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hertenstein and son, of Paxton, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hughes of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Payne of Joliet, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Shelton and daughters of Dahlgren, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Roane, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Minor and Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Tate of Opdyke, Judy Cross of Momence, 111., and David Prairie of Carbondale, a large group from Belle Rive, and Mt Vernon.IIftreiE£C£XIVrtnttVaCdahn■isaIt:iidvtlitddrcasIlt;■ct!CsitfcckIcktPa
