Most people consider a fiftieth wedding anniversary a rare achievement, but to observe the 68th is considered an almost un paralleled record. Such a record was attained Thursday by Mr. and Mrs. Alex Blackwell of Handsboro, above, who celebrated their anni versary with a family reunion that included four generations of the Blackwell family. They reside in a small home north of the Pass Road. The honorees were dressed in their Sunday best. Mr. Blackwell wore a bright camellia on his la pel, and Mrs. Blackwell displayed a camellia corsage. They were both in cheerful spirits and seem ed as happy as on their wedding day in 1880. Decorations in the home includ ed several vases of flowers. A special anniversary cake was bak ed for the dinner, which was at tended by a number of the chil dren and relatives. Residents of Harrison county since birth, Anderson Alexander Blackwell is 90 years old and his wife, Mrs. Virginia Bell Blackwell, is 87. Mr. Blackwell chose farming as his profession and remained on his farm at Laucier in Beat 5 until 1926, when the family moved to Gulfport. They removed from Gulfport to Handsboro in 1939. The Blackwells have eleven children living out of thirteen, 15 grandchildren and 19 great chil dren. Their three sons are Jeff and Wade, Gulfport; and Homer, Handsboro; and the eight daugh ters are Mrs. M. A. Broadus, Mrs. Nick Seymour and Mrs. Harry Mo ran de’Iberville; Mrs. Quitman Johnson of Saucier; Mrs. Sidney Alexander and Mrs. W. A. E. Sup pe, Gulfport; Mrs.James Blalack, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Mrs. Dana Robertson, Handsboro, who resides with her parents. Happily Married 68 Years
