Oeorge Standish, of Frbnnn, Mrs.John McCarty, Mrs. Asa Owen, Arthur and Charles Cushman, Jr., of Woodstock, Warren Cushman, of Dayton, who is spending this winter in California, and Frank, Julius and Jared Cushman ofCalifornia.In many ways this is a remarkable family, duo to a great extent, to the training in the home. The sacrifices and cares incident to rearing a large family at. this time only served to bring them closer together, and the loyal interest, that they have, one in the other.is such an outstanding trait, that* * %it is remarked lipon many timesby those who know them.Mr. Cushman, in spite of the hardships, of year, the handicap of using crutches, and the responsibility of rearing a large family, is in excellent health for a man whose years number, eighty seven. Everyone, who knows Mrs. Cushman is deeply impressed with her brilliant mentality nad remarkable memory.She is at present, an active member of the Literary Club and at the last meeting gave frommemory one of the finest num-* ¥ % ,hers of the year’s program. She is truly a young woman of eighty years.—Springfield Daily News.Sixty-four years ago on the 18th day of February in the little village of Woodstock, the wedding bells rang out to announce the marriage of Charles Cushman and Julia Standish. Both are of oldf v '' . - • ipioneer stock.The bride, a descendant of the gruff old captain. Miles Standish, of Plymouth, was a charming, vivacious member of a group of young people, who made life merry and pleasant notwithstanding the dark days of the Civil war that were upon the land.Charles Cushman was one of the first to enlist in 1861, under the Stars and Stripes, and fought in the Battle of Bull Run. His term of enlistment had expired at tills time, but later in the summer-of 1863, he re-enlisted and served until the end of the war. This loyalty to country and readiness to answer her call has come down through two generations, for two sons, Arthur and Charles are veterans of the Spanish-Am-erican war and a grandson.
