DOH should reinforce, repair Fort Martin RoadThe Dominion Post ran an article a few weeks ago (Jan. 18) in the paper about where part of the road (Monongalia County 53 — Fort Martin Road) had collapsed on a turn and the guardrail sunk over the hill. The story indicated that the state Division of Highways (DOH) was supposed to fix it. The only thing I have seen that the DOH did was put a guardrail right on the road, so if you went around that turn meeting a vehicle you would scrape against it. They didn’t reinforce the hill there at all that I could see.Is something ever going to be done about this road and the massive holes in it? I live in Pennsylvania and this is my main way to Morgantown — where I shop and work. I have had flat tires and cracked rims on this road, and my husband has had a flat tire and also wrecked as a result of a pothole he hit, which was filled with water that was icy. He slid into an oncoming truck. This road is dangerous and is used by more than just coal trucks hauling stuff. It is used by people who live on it, go to work that way. It’s sad how neglected it is. I would love to take a picture of the new guardrail, but I am not jeopardizing my life by stopping there to do so.Clarissa Eggers Dilliner, Pa.
