8•»Ruth Newman Married To George Moate Sat.The Old Stone church In Rock ton was the setting Saturday evening when Ruth Newman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Newman of Centerville road, exchange nuptial vows with George Moate, son of Harry Moate of Shirland. More than 120 guests witnessed the candlelight service performed by the Rev. Claude Warren. ^A gown of white satin, fashioned with a rounded illusion neckline and a lace edged veil caught to tiarra of orange blossoms was worn by the bride. She carried gardenias on a white prayer book.Two sisters of the bride, Mary Newman and Mrs. James Haughtonof Pecatonica, wore gowns of yellow and blue taffeta with matching hats for their roles as maid of honor and bridesmaid. Their flowers were arranged in colonial bouquets. Lois Newman, a younger sister, was flower girl.Best man was Clarence Seaton of Shirland, while Alvin Teague, cousin of the bridegroom, acted as groomsman. David Newman served as usher.A reception followed in the social rooms of the church, where Mrs. | Newman received in a navy ensemble with black and white accessories. Two other sisters of Saturday's bride, Mrs. Emmett Sutherland of Rockton and Janice Newman, assisted, as well as Mrs. Kenneth Robinson and Mrs. Earl Grover of Oregon.The couple will return from a I week's wedding trip through the southern states to live near Shirland where George is engaged in farming. |
