VALENTINE SOCIAL ATCRANDALL HOME IN ALTOONAAn unusual and enjoyable entertainment for the B. Y. P. U., of Altoona, in conjunction with a shower for a recent bride, Mrs. M. B. Clark, nee Louise Plainer, was given at “Winter Rest,r the winter home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Crandall, at Altoona, Friday night. The livingroom and dining room were tastefully decorated with valentine colors,hearts and flowers. The tables werearranged for refreshments of heart shaped cookies, orangeade and mints, and were decorated with red and white roses orange blossoms and heart shaped place cards, each card bearing a comic motto.The evening was full of lively contests and games, the first, being a contest in hearts, the winner being George Jackson,After the bride’s shower which was• vj- ' 2. ■„ 7 r • ' \ • frlJybeautiful beyond expectations, a contest, “advice to the newly weds,” was the cause of much merriment, and resulted in a lovely prize being won by Mrs. Mary Palmer.The guests who numbered about forty, contributed to the socihl fund of the B. Y. P. U. by depositing one cent each for the years of their life and this also created a great amount of amusement, as many schemed to keep others from seeing how muchthev contributed.
