Well, here’s a refreshing change!The picture at left, above, shows the bridegroom and the bride’s grandfather during the final moments of preparation. The bride, Judith Lackey Bryant, was given in marriage by her grandfather, Charlie Harvey Aheron, a retired Field-crest employee. Mr. Aheron was a weaver at the Woolen Mill for many years and was employed in the Blanket Weave Room when he retired in 1963.Miss Bryant, the daughter of Mrs. Herbert Millard Bryant, of Spray, and the late Mr. Bryant, was wed recently to Bruce Lynn Umminger in a ceremony at St- Luke’s Episcopal Church in Spray. Mrs. Umminger is a former Miss Tri-City and a former North Carolina Rhododendron Queen.She received her B. A. in English at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and later attended Yale University. She is a graduate of the John Powers and Candy Jones Schools and has modeled professionally. She now is coordinator of the Academic Enrichment Program for the State of Connecticutt Educational Department.The bridegroom, of Dayton, Ohio, was graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1963, receiving a B. S. degree with honors in biology. He received an M. S. degree in biology from Yale in 1966 and is presently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in marine biology at Yale on a National Aeronautics and Space Administration fellowship.The couple lives at New Haven, Connecticutt.
