POCATELLO, Feb. 20 (4)—Three Pioneer baseball league umpires have accepted terms and will sign contracts for the 1946 season short ly, league President Jack Halliwell said Wednesday. He identified the three as Hughie Day of Portland, Ore.; Les Burns of Phoenix, Ariz, and Gus C. Hawke of Vancouver, Wash. The league is also “in the final stages of dickering” for Charles F Schartow, who is now attending the school for umpires run by Bill Mc Gowan, American league umpire in chief, at Rockledge, Fla. Schartow was recommended to the league by McGowan.
